Yash Raj Films produced the action film which casts Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt. The film is a period drama in which Ranbir would be seen doing a double role as said by the news reports. Shamshera also stars Vaani Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana, Saurabh Shukla and Ronit Roy, among many others.

The period drama is set in the 1800’s where Ranbir Kapoor plays a double role while telling the tale of a dacoit who fought endlessly to gain the freedom from the undair British rule in India. The movie will be released in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil on July 22, 2022.
