Ranchi court dismisses case against Jugjugg Jeeyo

Jugjugg Jeeyo, starring Varun Dhawan and Anil Kapoor, gets cleared by the Ranchi court.

When a writer by the name of Vishal A. Singh filed a lawsuit against Dharma Productions, Jugjugg Jeeyo previously encountered legal issues. In his plea, he accused Karan Johar and his crew of violating his copyright and asked the court to halt the film’s distribution. The Ranchi court has now dismissed the lawsuit and given the all-clear for the movie’s release on June 24, one day before it enters theatres.

Dharma Productions breathed a sigh of relief when the release date was kept. A person close to the production company made the following statement regarding the decision: “In relation to the ongoing copyright infringement case, by its order pronounced in open court today, the Hon’ble Commercial Court, Ranchi has dismissed Vishal Singh’s application against Karan Johar and Dharma Productions seeking an injunction against release of their much awaited film Jugjugg Jeeyo.”

The source said that actions will be taken against the writer by Karan Johar and Dharma Productions. “Separately, Dharma Productions & Karan Johar are ––n the process of filing a suit for defamation and damages against Vishal Singh,” the source concluded.

For those who are unaware, Vishal A Singh used Twitter to discuss copyright infringement following the release of the Jugjugg Jeeyo teaser. He stated in a tweet that he had shared the script for Bunny Rani, a movie about a middle-aged couple seeking a divorce, with Karan Johar and Dharma Productions. Along with the tweets, he had also posted images of the email discussion with the production business. And only a few weeks ago, Vishal filed a motion with the court asking for a delay in the film’s release.
